Western Division American Fisheries Society Annual Meeting

“Change, Challenge, and Opportunity in
Fisheries: Fishing for Solutions”

The annual Western Division American Fisheries Society will be hosted by the Alaska
Chapter American Fisheries Society and will take place during 21-25 May 2018 at the
Egan Center in Anchorage, Alaska. Contributed paper and poster submissions will open
January 21, 2018 and abstracts will be due by March 5, 2018.

Included in this link will be a list of symposia. Please look through and select if you think your oral presentation fits into one of the symposia themes. Poster presentations will not have this option, although, the Poster Chair will try to group posters into “themes” prior to the Poster and Trade Show Social on May 22, 2018.

Abstracts for both oral and poster presentations must not exceed 300 words.

Submit Symposium Proposal

Symposium Title: Limit to 150 characters or less.

Organizer(s): Name, affiliation, and contact information including email and phone number.
Please indicate who the primary contact should be. Include no more than 5 organizers.

Summary: Description of the suggested symposium. When drafting their summary, organizers
are encouraged to consider how their symposium description might compliment the meeting
theme, “Change, Challenge, and Opportunity in Fisheries: Fishing for Solutions”. Please limit
summary word count to 200 words or less.

Length of Symposium: Half Day (approximately 10-12 presentations), Full Day (approximately
20 presentations), or Multiple Days (please indicate number of anticipated presentations)

List of potential speakers for this symposium: Prior to submitting the proposal, please
communicate with potential presenters that they are being included in this symposium proposal.

Submit Workshop Proposal

Workshop Title: Limit to 150 characters or less.

Organizer(s): Name, affiliation, and contact information including email and phone number.
Please indicate who the primary contact should be.

Summary: Description of the suggested workshop. Be sure to include any special instructions for
participants (e.g., need laptop with MS Excel). Limit word count to 200 words or less.

Registration Fee: Please indicate an anticipated or typical registration fee. Fees will be agreed
upon and finalized by the General Meeting Organizers.

Estimated number of Students: Min Number to Max Number

Length of Workshop: Half or Full Day or Multiple Days*

Format of Workshop: Indicate the structure of the workshop setting. Be sure to include any
workshop needs (e.g., class room setting with the ability to move furniture for an open floor
plan) here.

*Workshops will be held on Monday, May 21 st 2018 at the Egan Center, unless special
arrangements or multiple days are needed. Please include this information in the Format of
Workshop.
